Country Club Sprinkler System Eliminates Filter Screen Maintenance
Filter Screen Maintenance Eliminated with Lakos Separators
Separating sand, pea gravel and pipe scale from an Ohio sprinkler system’s water supply, three Lakos 6-inch Agricultural Separators have corrected the problems of malfunctioning automatic sprinkler heads and virtually eliminated the need to clean their fine filter screens. Before the Lakos Separators were installed, “Even once a week screen cleaning was not enough,” said Bill Knox, Superintendent of the Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio.
The automatic valve and head system had just been installed on this golf course when Knox recognized the problem. Troublesome particles, which included pipe scale from their old water well, were quickly plugging up their 3/16-inch (4 mesh) filter screens and interfering with the system’s proper operation.
The Lakos Separators, which remove up to 98% of all particles as small as 200 mesh (74 microns), have been noticeably effective, drawing attention from Knox, who claims his entire system now works “excellently.”
Lakos Separators, which filter solids by centrifugal action, have no moving parts to wear out, no screen or filter elements to clean or replace and offer a very low line pressure loss. The only service required is a simple and occasional purge of the Separator’s collection chamber when necessary. An Automatic Purge Kit is available, making the system maintenance-free.
Models allow for the handling of flows from 4 – 6200 GPM per unit and may be manifolded for variable and/or greater flows. Information and engineering assistance are available from your local authorized
Lakos Separator Distributor or the main office in Fresno, California.
